2009

$1,158,538
Funds raised in 2009 were directed toward completing a $3M pledge to construct a level 3 bio-containment laboratory as an integral part of the world class Centre for Understanding and Preventing Infection in Children (CUPIC) located at BC Children’s Hospital. The CL3 Lab, as it is known, was officially opened in early November 2009 with a special open house and reception hosted by the Mining for Miracles Committee and BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Chairman's Remarks:
“Although 2008 was a gratifying experience, 2009 turned out to be that much more so because it became clear that the men and women from BC’s Mining Industry will always find a way to “make good” even in difficult and uncertain times. The Committee and its supporters worked hard, had fun (almost too much fun), raised $1.15M and completed a 3-year funding commitment in 2-years! I also got pied for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd times in 2009!”
